RRS: Year 1 Review
Nothing in life worth pursuing comes easy, but after the dust has settled on the XV’s season, we transition into our next round of scholarship recipients knowing year one was a critical (and crucial) resounding success. Here’s why …
When you’re hurtling through the challenge and choices of life, it’s good to have a mate who’s got your back.
We (Rugby Rent Scholarships) delivered on our mission statement: Provide affordable housing to rugby players who want to grow on and off the pitch. We found young men who wanted to grow on and off the pitch, and they took advantage of what we provided. The housing costs were significantly subsidized, and players were able to immediately focus on acquiring and nurturing their income streams and new Denver based relationships.
The team performed well. The players who lived in the house were an integral part in a team that made an exiting championship run. But it was more than just the rugby…. The entire Rugby Rent Scholarship team. The mentors, the recruits, the mentees, the board, wives & girlfriends, and club members who just pop over to the house for a drink, a yarn, and meet the new guys … thank you to the entire group of people who helped fortify the family we have here. The collective effort of all the people involved is what made it work in year 1.
Year 1 RRS recipients are staying involved. Robert Valle and Conor O’Brien will sit on the Board of Directors (along with a full list below). These young gentleman have direct experience that will be an invaluable part of our ongoing plans and culture. Early retention of such talented individuals is a clear indication that our mission to help build and fortify the rugby community will strengthen in the years moving forward. For every new member who benefits from what we offer, we benefit from their future good deeds.
You get what you give. To quote Uncle Johnny Warner … “Giving IS Receiving”. Paying it forward was a philosophy we chose to live by when navigating the challenging that naturally occur with anything in its early stages. We expect our returns to multiply exponentially over the next two years as more people because aware of what we’re doing. The more players that we’re able to provide value for, the stronger our network becomes.
Thanks for reading through and catching up on what we’re trying to do here at Rugby Rent Scholarships. We’re convinced a solid way to help someone is to take things off their plate. We try and let our players concentrate on our Four Pillars. All of which have been handcrafted (sculpted?) to suit and benefit the players themselves.
If you’ve read all the way through, and like what we do … we could use your help (and you might just help yourself too). If you know of a young, driven, open-minded and hard working rugby player, send them our way and give them a nudge to apply for a Rugby Rent Scholarship. Once they hit submit, we’ll reach out to them and see if they are for real.
Thanks again, to the people that made year 1 a success. Now onto the next challenge; Constantly raising the bar.
When you see an opportunity, back yourself and go!
You can not conquer your fears until you look them dead in the eyes and accept them.
